2006 Pumpkin Chunkin’

Ahhhh…the pumpkin chunkin’. You might have seen it on The Discovery Channel.
We’re doing the same thing, but we don’t get air cannons and everything had to be made of natural materials.
On Friday night we got there, set up our tents, and then went to play manhunt. Which was fun, and tired us out so we could sleep faster.
In the morning we got some really good pancakes to help us wake up and then we went to the flag ceremony and started the patrol events so we could do pumpkin chunkin’
My patrol did the wet wood fire building which we almost beat the time limit but didn’t. Then we did the stretcher relay, and he said we had the fastest time yet! But the he said that we were the first ones he had. We did pretty good at semaphore though.
After that we just walked around and helped with the construction of the trebuchet which wasn’t very successful, but we got it working.
Then the time for the competition came. We gave the trebuchet one last test run with a big water balloon and snapped one of the pieces of the trebuchet in half.
We repaired it though and got one launch to successfully go farther than –5 feet which was a victory in our hearts!

In the morning we had donuts, or should I say they had donuts. Nobody bothered to wake me up. Sheesh! After that we went on a hike and then came home.
