Scout Reviews of CampoutsAdventure Camp – 2008

The Yule Log campout was at Scoutland in December. Everyone had to bring a few cans to donate to local food banks and supplies to compete in the events. When we got situated, it got freezing cold outside. Hey Dr. Denton, shouldn’t we get a polar bear patch for camping in freezing weather? We tried to make a fire but everything was wet. So a lot of us either went to bed early to keep warm or huddled around the lantern playing cards. When we all woke up it was still super cold, so only the grub masters went out of their warm sleeping bags to cook. After it warmed up we took our supplies to the field, and Yule Log started. We only competed in two events. Zach Skidmore and Zach Parkhurst competed in the Memory Kim game and Zach Skidmore, Samuel Musser, and Matthew Denton competed in the Orienteering course. While we were competing, Christian Sanchez led the rest of the troop in a good game of football. We did not go to the Yule Log campfire so we still do not know if we won anything! We stayed the night and woke up in the early morning to pack. We had some difficulties with one camper singing Christmas carols and wasn’t cleaning and packing his tent. HO HO HO!
